Zentralalpenweg Day 6 (19km)

My faith in the Austrian public transport system was shattered when we got to the station to find our train to Mattersburg had been cancelled! We very nearly went home in the huff, but the thought of eating our sandwiches with a flask of tea in the kitchen persuaded us that an hour's delay was acceptable.
That missing hour though meant that we might not get the only bus back from Kobersdorf at 15:00. In the end we walked pretty fast and made it with half an hour to spare. The day was cold and windy and the light very hazy and flat so photos were not great and what should have been super views over the Schneeberg and Hoch Wechsel were just not there.
We did a total of 19km, mostly downhill, half on a nice soft forest path and half through fields or on tar. The last few kilometres were alongside a very busy, noisy road which is being expanded with another couple of lanes. I fail to understand how we plan to phase out fossil fuels when new roads continue to be built and existing ones enlarged. That surely is just encouraging more traffic.
